Let me spell it out for you.

Brand Story • Internal & External Communications • Copywriting • Ghostwriting • Healthcare • Nonprofit Development • Speechwriting

I advise clients as a strategic communication consultant and brand story builder. I’m also a journalist who started in gritty, daily print newsrooms.

Founders and CEOs trust me as a sounding board, speechwriter, and editor — organizations and brands trust me to direct and grow communications. I’ve ushered in major public education campaigns and motivated thousands to share time, money, land — even lifesaving blood donations.

Here are a few samples of my work:

Amanda is a remarkable and fearless professional. I engaged her in a quick deadline strategic writing assignment. I found her to be strategic, creative and collaborative - leaning in and listening carefully to get to the heart of the assignment. She has a sharp writing and editing pen, finding meaning and precision with each word. And she’s just fun to work with.
— Stephanie Swanson, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer, Oregon Community Foundation
We worked with Amanda to help align our social media and communications strategy. Her expertise allowed us to grow our audience and interactions and create a detailed long-term plan. We loved interacting with Amanda as she approaches each challenge with energy and excitement. We valued our relationship and would highly recommend Amanda.
— Iannick Di Sanza, Director of Marketing, Tarkett Sports (FieldTurf)
Amanda has my highest recommendation as a communications and marketing specialist. She is creative, responsive and agile in an environment that demands flexibility. Her communications are thoughtful and inspiring, and she is a person of high integrity. Amanda is an asset to everyone’s team!
— Jeanne Savage, M.D., Chief Medical Officer, Trillium Community Health Plan and Health Net of Oregon

✍︎ What makes me tick?

Mission-driven Organizations + Healthcare

Public health, healthcare, fundraising, and public education are central to my career. I’ve consulted for brands, including WebMD, Landmark Health, and LIVESTRONG. I’ve been Communications Director of the American Red Cross Blood Service Regional Office and served on national boards for Fighting Pretty (a team supporting women through cancer treatment) - and Donate Life Northwest (advocating for organ donation). In 2015, I co-founded the PR firm Wild Pacific PR & Strategy.

Destination Journalism

My writing started in second grade with my Scottish pen pal. We exchanged stories about our worlds for over a decade, and I found a zeal for reporting. Keeping a global vantage is central to my creative work. I’ve lived, worked, and raised children overseas. My published writing can be found here.

For the last several years, it has been a joy to work with Amanda. She has been an incredible partner that brings a level of professionalism and expertise to every effort she encounters. After getting the opportunity to be featured as the key segment on the Today Show, Amanda was my first call, and she rose to the occasion. She helped prepare talking points, guide press, and manage content – even from across the country. Amanda is an excellent writer, constantly seeking new opportunities, and is also great at creating networks.

Amanda was highly recommended to me from a colleague. She helped me by listening to what my needs were and created great communication language for me. Sometimes, when you are so used to what you do, you forget the true audience and the broader landscape. Amanda took all of that into account and created a fabulous, succinct message. All of this, put together with a tight timeline, she far exceeded my expectations. I will certainly reach out to Amanda for my future needs! Thank you, Amanda!
— Nancy Rickenbach, Chief Operating Officer/Interim Compliance Officer at Umpqua Health
The relationship between a designer and a writer is key to any successful marketing team. Amanda and I met when I joined OpenSesame to lead a rebranding effort, and for that, I consider myself very lucky. I had the pleasure of collaborating with her on a full website redesign as well as video scripting and storyboarding. Amanda is an expert at what she does. The stories that she wrote inspired and informed my designs, and I always loved hearing what ideas she had. She was also always there to bounce ideas off of and was open to hearing my ideas. This collaboration brought life into what we were working on, and there’s no one I’d rather have had by my side. I’d love to work with Amanda in the future. Seriously, if you’re looking for a copywriter, hire Amanda!
— Alda Pummill, Senior Product Designer, OpenSesame
Amanda is one of the top-notch creatives with which I’ve worked. She’s smart, responsive, and does high-quality work. The best part is that she goes about it all with gusto. I would pick Amanda to work with again and again (and I do!).
